New Magistrate Judge for Northern District of Iowa: Leonard T.Strand

On June 9, 2012, Leonard Strand took office as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Iowa. He fills the vacancy left by U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul A. Zoss, who retired in June 2012. His chambers is in Sioux City, Iowa. Judge Strand was born and raised in Sioux City.

He received his undergraduate degree with high honors from the University of Iowa in 1987. He received his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1990, where he graduated first in his class with Highest Distinction and Order of the Coif honors.

In addition to his studies, he was a member of the Journal of Corporation Law. From 1990 until this appointment, he practiced law with the firm of Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His practice focused on commercial law, employment law and products liability.
