New Bankruptcy Judge for S.D. Iowa: Anita L. Shodeen

On August 26, 2009, James B. Loken, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, announced the court has appointed Anita Louise Shodeen of Des Moines, Iowa as a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Southern District of Iowa.

She is a 1982 graduate of the University of Minnesota, and a 1985 graduate of Drake University Law School. Upon graduation she clerked for Justice Jerry Larson of the Iowa Supreme Court. She has been in the private practice of law since 1986. She was a partner for eighteen years at Beving, Swanson & Forrest, P.C. in Des Moines, Iowa. Her practice focused primarily on debtor-creditor and bankruptcy matters.

From 1988 until her judicial appointment, Judge Shodeen served as a chapter 7 panel trustee. She also served as the Standing Chapter 12 Trustee in the Southern District of Iowa for nine years. Welcome, Judge Shodeen!
