New District Judge for South Dakota: Lange

Roberto A. Lange was born in Pamplona, Spain, and grew up in South Dakota. He received his undergraduate degree in 1985 from the University of South Dakota. In 1988 he received his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law, where he also served as editor of the law review.

He began his legal career as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Donald J. Porter of the District of South Dakota. In 1989 he joined the firm of Davenport, Evans, Hurwitz & Smith, where he focused on complex commercial litigation, products liability, ERISA litigation and other business issues.

Judge Lange will serve in Pierre, replacing U.S. District Judge Charles Kornmann, who assumed senior status in July. Welcome, Judge Lange!
