Bio: Sadie Wunderlich,
Library Technician, Des
Moines
My name is Sadie
Wunderlich, and I was hired
as the Library Technician in
the Des Moines Branch Library in October, 2007.
I was born and raised in Mason City, IA. My
parents, five siblings, and many friends still live
there, and I enjoy a visit home. Currently I live in
Grimes, IA.
I received a BA from Trinity International
University in 2006, following an AA from North
Iowa Area Community College in 2003. There
was opportunity to study for a summer term
abroad in Europe my junior year, which was my
favorite experience as a student and a very
memorable time. I was very involved in the
music department, participating in choir all 4
years and also taking private voice and piano
lessons.
While the library is my preferred career choice, I
wouldn't mind a turn on the stage. I have been a
stage manager and assistant director for several
plays in my home town and the university, but
only played a lead role once in a production. I
love to go to the opera, musicals (recently
experienced Wicked), and plays with friends.
Concerts are also very enjoyable, and I do enjoy
early music presentations.
Photography and pottery are my two big
passions. I started with both by taking a class in
college, and haven't stopped since. I like them as
an expressive media, they're both very adaptable.
Both are also well-suited for the beginner, and
allow room for growth, which I've experienced.
My work is only for personal use, but someday I
would like to freelance as a photographer or sell
some pottery on the side. Right now, it's just for
fun, and I have fun with both.
Finally, I love to read. That's why I wanted to
work in a library since I was small - reading is
the ultimate favorite! My reasons for working in
a library have been refined and added to over the
years, but I hope to always love to read. I think
that working in an environment constantly
surrounded by words is fabulous.
