New Judge for W.D. of Missouri: M. Douglas Harpool

On Wednesday, March 26, the U.S. Senate confirmed Mark Douglas Harpool as a U.S. District Court Judge
for the Western District of Missouri by a vote of 93-5. He fills the vacancy left by Judge Richard E. Dorr, who died April 2013. His chambers will be in Springfield, Missouri.

Judge Harpool received his undergraduate degree from Missouri State University in 1977 and his law degree from the University of Missouri Columbia School of Law in 1980. He began his legal career in private practice at the firm of Daniel, Clampett, Lilly, Dalton, Powell & Cunningham. From 1983 to 1992 he was also a five-term member of the Missouri House of Representatives, where he also served as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

From 2002 to 2003, he practiced at Cunningham, Harpool & Cardonnier LLC. From 2004 to 2006, he practiced at Lathrop & Gage LLP. Since 2006 he has practiced at Baird, Lightner, Millsap & Harpool in Springfield, Missouri, where he focused on employment law, municipal law, and civil rights law.
