New Magistrate Judge for N.D. of Iowa: Jon Scoles
On March 15, 2007, Chief U.S.
District Judge Linda Reade
announced that Judge Jon
Scoles of Mason City will
replace Judge Jarvey as U.S.
Magistrate Judge.
Jon Stuart Scoles was born in Charles City, Iowa.
He received his undergraduate degree in Math
from the University of Northern Iowa in 1973
and his law degree with honors from the
University of Iowa College of Law in 1979.
He began his legal career as a law clerk in the 2A
Judicial District of Iowa. In 1980 he became a
partner in the firm of DeVries, Scoles and Price.
In 1986 he was appointed as an Iowa District
Court Judge, where he has served as Chief Judge
