Judge Paul J. Kilburg Retires

The Hon. Paul J. Kilburg, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Iowa, retired on January 31, 2014. His term ended on January 31, 2010 but he has been serving in recall status. Judge Thad J. Collins filled the vacancy created by Judge Kilburg’s retirement from active service in 2010.

Judge Kilburg served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1968. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska in 1971 and his law degree from Washburn University School of Law in 1974.

He practiced with the firm of Keyes and Crawford until his appointment as Assistant Juvenile Judge in 1978. He was appointed to the Sixth Judicial District Court of Iowa in 1981, where he served until his apointment as a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge in 1993.
