New Judge for the Western District of Arkansas: Paul K. Holmes III

On February 7 the Senate confirmed Paul K. “PK” Holmes III as a U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas. He fills the vacancy created when Judge Robert T. Dawson took senior status.

He received his undergraduate degree from Westminster College (Fulton, Missouri) in 1973 and his law degree from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville in 1978. After graduating, he began working as an associate with the firm of Warner, Smith & Harris, PLC in Fort Smith. From 1993 to 2001, he took leave from the firm to serve as a U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. He returned to the firm as a partner, where he has focused on white collar crime, commercial litigation, and environmental issues. In addition to his legal practice, he has been a member of the Arkansas Volunteer Lawyers for the Elderly (AVLE) and was selected as the AVLE Lawyer of the Year in 1989, and served on the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee for Jury Instructions-Civil. He is a Fellow in the Arkansas Bar Foundation, and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
