Judge Kermit Bye toTake Senior Status

U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Kermit E. Bye announced that he will take senior status on April 22, 2015, the 15th anniversary of his private swearing in as a federal judge. Judge Bye received his commission on March 9, 2000, and was publicly sworn in during his investiture on June 2, 2000.

Judge Bye is a graduate of the University of North Dakota. Following law school, he served as the state’s Deputy Securities Commissioner from 1962-1964 and Special Assistant Attorney General from 1964- 1966. From 1966-1968 he was Assistant U.S. Attorney in Fargo. For the next 32 years, he practiced law with the Vogel Law Firm until his appointment to the federal bench, specializing in business litigation and professional liability.
