125th Anniversary ofthe Court of Appeals
for the Eighth Circuit

On June 16, 1891, 125 years ago this month, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit met for the first time. The U.S. Court of Appeals was created by the Evarts Act (26 Stat. 826), passed by Congress on March 3, 1891. In attendance were U.S. Supreme Court Justice David J. Brewer and U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Henry Clay Caldwell.
