New Magistrate Judge for Eastern District of Arkansas: Tricia Harris

On July 31, 2015, Tricia Harris was officially sworn in as the newest U. S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Arkansas. Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Miller administered the oath of office. Judge Harris fills the vacancy left by Judge H. David Young, who retired in March.

Judge Harris received her undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas in 1986, and her law degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1989. She began her legal career at the firm of Wright, Lindsey, and Jennings, where she became a partner and focused on civil litigation including medical malpractice and product liability defense.

In 2007 she became an Assistant U.S. Attorney, where she has served until this appointment to the federal bench. In October, Harris served as the district’s election officer to help the U.S. Department of Justice handle complaints of election fraud and voting-rights abuses.

Welcome, Judge Harris!
