Retirement: Kim P. Jones, Senior Staff Attorney, St. Louis

Kim P. Jones retired on January 31, 2018, after serving over 19 years as Senior Staff Attorney for the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Kim was born in Springfield, IL, but grew up in Florissant, MO, receiving a fine public education in the Ferguson-Florissant school district. She attended college at Harvard University, where she studied philosophy and graduated with an A.B. in 1981. Kim earned her J.D. in 1984 from the University of Michigan, and began her legal career in St. Louis at the international law firm, Bryan Cave. While at Bryan Cave, she specialized in the field of public and government contract law, and worked in the firmís offices in St. Louis, MO; Washington, D.C.; Phoenix, AZ; and Irvine, CA. She became a partner with the firm in 1993.
Hearing the call of public service, in February 1994 Kim left private practice and joined the Eighth Circuit as a Supervisory Staff Attorney. She was chosen by the court to fill the Senior Staff Attorney position in October 1998. In addition to serving the Eighth Circuit, Kim chaired the Senior Staff Attorney Advisory group from 2004 to 2017, and served twice on the Budget and Finance Advisory Council, including as its court chair during 2013 and 2014.
Outside of work, Kim is on the board of Hawthorne Players, a community theatre group based in Ferguson and Florissant, MO, and is active in the Harvard Club of St. Louis. Congratulations, Kim!
