Judge for Western
District of Missouri: Brian T. Fenimore
Brian T. Fenimore was
recently appointed as a U.S.
Bankruptcy Judge for the
Western District of Missouri.
The appointment is effective
August 31, 2017, and fills the vacancy created by the
retirement of Judge Arthur B. Federman.
Judge Fenimore received his undergraduate degree
with honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia
in 1988 and his law degree from the University of
Michigan Law School in 1990.
He began his legal career as a law clerk for Judge
Prior to this appointment he was a partner at
Lathrop and Gage in Kansas City, Missouri, where he
co-chaired the firmís Banking and Creditors Rights
Litigation practice. His practice focused on debtor-inpossession
financing, automatic stay relief, asset sales
and acquisitions, claim allowance, dischargeability,
plan confirmation, and cramdown litigation.
In addition to his legal practice, he served on the
Ad Hoc Advisory Committee to the U.S. Bankruptcy
Court for the Western District of Missouri from 1997
to 2000. He is a five-time winner of the Kansas City
Business Journalís Best of the Bar award and was
voted Lawyer of the Year by The Best Lawyers in
America in 2017.
