On April 14, 2016, U.S. District Judge Audrey G. Fleissig in the Eastern District of Missouri was honored as “Woman of the Year” at Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s Women’s Justice Awards.
The award is given in recognition of a woman who makes an extraordinary difference in improving the quality of justice or exemplifies the highest ideals of the legal profession.
In 2000 Judge Fleissig became the first woman to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri.
She served as a U.S. Magistrate Judge from 2001 until her appointment in 2010 as U.S. District Court Judge.
In addition to her service on the federal bench, Judge Fleissig has been an active member of the legal and local communities. Read more about her history of service in this article from Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
The 18th annual Women’s Justice Awards honored 44 women from the legal community and took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown St. Louis.
